Brachioplasty
Refine Your Contour. Restore Your Confidence.
Loose or hanging skin of the upper arms can develop after weight loss, aging, or natural changes in skin elasticity. Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape the upper arms by removing excess skin and tissue to create a smoother, more toned appearance.
At Cape Cod Surgical Arts, we believe your results should look elegant, balanced, and natural to your body. During your consultation, Dr. Dalton will evaluate your anatomy, listen closely to your goals, and create a personalized treatment plan designed around you.
What Is Brachioplasty?
Brachioplasty, often called an arm lift, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that improves the contour of the upper arms by removing excess skin and, in some cases, reducing excess fat. It is especially helpful for patients who feel bothered by “bat wing” fullness or skin laxity that does not improve with diet and exercise alone.
For some patients, brachioplasty may be performed on its own. For others, it may be combined with liposuction or included as part of a larger body contouring plan.
Is Brachioplasty Right for You?
You may be a good candidate for brachioplasty if you:
Have loose, hanging skin of the upper arms
Have experienced weight loss and are left with excess skin
Feel that your arms do not reflect the rest of your physique
Are at a stable weight
Are in good general health
Have realistic expectations about scars and recovery
An arm lift is not a substitute for weight loss, but it can be an excellent option for patients seeking a more refined upper arm contour when skin laxity is the primary concern.
Benefits of an Arm Lift
Brachioplasty may help:
Improve the shape and contour of the upper arms
Remove excess hanging skin
Create a smoother, firmer appearance
Help clothing fit more comfortably
Restore confidence in sleeveless or fitted styles
Complement the results of weight loss or other body contouring procedures
How Brachioplasty Works
Every brachioplasty procedure is tailored to the patient’s anatomy and goals. In general, the procedure involves removing excess skin and reshaping the upper arm. In some cases, liposuction may also be used to improve contour.
Incision placement depends on the amount and location of excess skin. Dr. Dalton will discuss the expected scar pattern, what can realistically be improved, and what approach is best suited to your body.
The goal is not simply to make the arm smaller, but to create a smoother, more proportional contour that fits beautifully with the rest of your shape.
Recovery After Brachioplasty
Recovery varies from patient to patient, but most patients should expect swelling, bruising, and temporary activity restrictions during the initial healing period. A compression garment may be recommended to help support healing and contour.
You will receive detailed post-operative instructions specific to your procedure. Dr. Dalton and our team will guide you through recovery and follow-up care so you know what to expect at each stage of healing.
As swelling improves and incisions mature, your new arm contour will continue to refine.
